The Mitsubishi A5M2 Claude, named after Claude Noguchi, the chief designer of the aircraft, was a formidable military aircraft of its time. It was a monoplane with a retractable landing gear and a powerful Nakajima Ha.25 engine, capable of reaching speeds of up to 315 miles per hour. The Mitsubishi A5M2 Claude was first introduced into service in 1938 and was used extensively by the Japanese Navy Air Service, or Kōkū Hōkōkū Chūtai, in the Chinese theater of the war. The aircraft was primarily used for fighter and ground attack roles, and its agility and maneuverability made it a formidable opponent for the Chinese Air Force.
